Strengthening Individuals, Youths and Families
Promoting and facilitating the individual all-round and systematic development of individuals remain an area of topmost priority and hallmark of the GIT's efforts. The GIT has over the years provided educational opportunities to the benefit of hundreds of persons across the country.
The GIT views education and moral upliftment as key to the process of redeeming and transforming the society. This focus has remained the guiding light over the decades and is today manifested in a host of educational forums in virtually every corner of the country.
The Department of Educations works in close collaboration with the other facets of the GIT in pursuing its areas of work.
Educational Programs of the GIT:
- Children's Classes
Basic regular educational classes for children at their Masaajid
- Islamic Education Programs
General syllabus for Islamic education of youths and adults in the basic concepts and mannerisms of Islam
- Study Circles
This is offered at various levels catering for the development of a positive Islamic character
- Family Seminars
Almost any topic of interest can be addressed in the seminars, which usually attracts the entire family
- Women Seminars
Mainly organized by NISA
- Qiyam
These evening, or sometimes all-night programs, allow for a high level of interaction with scholars and facilitates personal spiritual development, especially in Ramadan
- Special Courses
Da'wah workers can gain valuable job and personal skills, such as elocution, computer technology, writing, management, etc.
- Monthly Youth Programs for Brothers and Sisters
Flexible, practical, weekend programs for kids, involving their Jamaats and parents.
- Non-residential Courses
Each District usually holds at least one 'non-residential' course every year, a convenient part-time education package
- Residential Islamic Courses
Whether national or in the District, hundreds of students benefit every year from the classes, games and fun!
- International Youth Courses
The IYC is a new idea which seeks to connect local and overseas Muslim students with the wonderful Islamic, eco-tourism, historical and cultural heritage of Guyana, especially children of migrant Guyanese parents.
