Taking the Message of Islam to all Guyana

The Guyana Islamic Trust takes seriously the task of spreading the Message of Peace and Harmony with all persons living in Guyana. The call to Islam as undertaken by the GIT over the years through its diverse packages has seen thousands of persons returning to Path of Hope and Salvation for all Mankind.

Furthermore, systematic follow up and community development programs have set the pace to cater for the large influx of New-Muslims over the years. Islamic Awareness Week (IAW) is an annual but significant feature of the GIT's Da'wah thrust.

Prison Visits and Counseling
Meeting with Governmental Agencies
Welfare Support for new-Muslims
Orientation courses for new-Muslim

Islamic Awareness Week

Over the years, the Guyana Islamic Trust has sponsored a full week of activities annually, aimed at raising national interest and awareness in Islam as a complete system of life.

This week has been officially called "The Islamic Awareness Week" and the activities of the usually packed program include:

A series of public lectures
Television interviews
Khutbahs on specific topics dealing with the general theme of IAW
Public Exhibitions
Short talks in schools
Radio programs
Symposia
Visits to hospital patients
Distribution of Da'wah tracts, flyers on Islam and other material intended to clear up misconceptions about the Deen
Medical Outreach programs
Visits to the prisons
Feeding Programs
Clothing Distribution

Along with the public activities during this week, there is also an intensification of personal contact Da'wah, both to the ordinary people as well as to community and even government leaders.

An interest in Islam and the options Islam has to offer is heightened by the production of numerous tracts and single page flyers in various matters of Deen which are of particular interest to non-Muslims.

The GIT will continue to be increasingly involved in extending the call to Islam to all Guyana utilizing a systematic and multi-prong approach.
