About Us
What is the Guyana Islamic Trust?
The Guyana Islamic Trust (GIT) is a multi-faceted , not for profit organization which has been established since 1978.
Our Objectives:
- Uphold and share the principles of Al-ISLAM with the people of Guyana
- Articulate and represent the interest of Muslims and the values of Islam at all levels of national life
- Develop Institutions that will provide for the sound intellectual, spiritual, moral and cultural well-being of Muslims
- Promote co-operation and unity among Muslims locally, regionally and internationally
- Publish books, magazines, journals, newspapers, newsletters and articles as deemed necessary for the dissemination of Islamic teachings and the propagation of Islam
- Associate with others to undertake programs to promote peace, harmony and the development of Guyana
- Organize sporting, cultural and recreational activities for Muslims
- Do what may be conducive to the attainment of the organization's objectives
Our Work
The GIT has dedicated itself to the process of bringing about intellectual, moral and spiritual improvement to individuals, families and communities in Guyana. Our fundamental approach is education, since ignorance is the root cause of the intolerance, racism, immorality and criminality that pervades our society and our world Our belief that Islam holds the perfect solutions to man kind's woes is demonstrated in our of program of Da'wah, to bring Allah's message to each and every Guyanese.
Our humanitarian efforts are based on the Qur'anic injunction to care and share with all human beings, values much needed in Guyana's depressed socio-economic climate. The GIT also seeks to provide leadership and guidance at all levels of the Muslim community, including individual, marriage and family counseling, career guidance, advice on personal and communal Islamic duties and articulating Muslim concerns and positions on various issues. We are committed to influencing positive change and developing a strong and viable Muslim community in Guyana.
